MORRISBURG – Riley’s Valumart has launched PC Express online ordering in Morrisburg.
“It’s a way of making grocery shopping more convenient,” said Valumart owner Riley Hatherall. “Not just for residents but also for seasonal customers in the area.”
Part of a national roll-out of the service by Loblaws, PC Express enables customers to link their PC Optimum card to an online ordering system, and shop for groceries. The system keeps track of orders to make frequently purchased items more easily available to buy.
“It’s a convenience factor,” Hatherall said. “For busy families, this takes one of the stresses off. If you are out on the water, or on holidays, this gives you more time in the sun.”
Customers using the system can place their order for a set pick up time.
“We only have eight pickup slots every two hours for customers,” he said.
Once an order is placed online, the personal factor takes over.
“We’ve told everyone here to be picky when they get people’s orders,” Hatherall said. “If they wouldn’t pick the item, then don’t pick it for the customers.”
Hatherall said its the personalized service that makes the PC Express system stand out from other online competitors.
“Items are stored in proper, temperature-controlled locations, and brought out to customers when they arrive.”
To pick up their order, customers call the store once they have arrived in one of the specially marked parking spots.
“They call, and we bring it out to them,” he said.
Customers can pay in their car with debit or credit cards. Cash customers have to pay inside.
“We hope it will make people’s lives a little easier, at least for grocery shopping,” he said.
