Kurtis Barkley wins UC Open

Cedar Glen golfer, Kurtis Barkley successfully defended his 2010 title at the Upper Canada Men’s Open tournament here Saturday with an even par 72.

In claiming his second consecutive victory in the revamped tournament which was returned last year after an almost 10 year absence, Barkley shaved one stroke off his winning 73 score shot in 2010.

In 2010, he was one of only two players to break the 80 barrier on the challenging 6,332 yard Upper Canada Golf Course.
Claiming the B flight low gross win Saturday was Nationveiw’s Larry Gordon who shot an 81, while C flight went to Tony Theodosiou with a 92.

Net winners were Shawn Selleck of the Brockville Country Club in A flight, Dave Meyers (non-club affiliation) in B flight and Doug Warner of the Morrisburg Golf Club.

The tournament was sponsored by TaylorMade and The Brick.
