Obituary: Kathleen “Kathy” Shampine

Kathleen “Kathy” Rose Shampine (Murray), age 68, residing in Palm Coast Florida passed away at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast on January 6, 2019.

She was born December 3, 1950 in Morrisburg, Ontario, the daughter of Joseph and Clara Murray.

Kathy met David J Shampine II of Waddington NY in 1966; they were joined in marriage on August 21, 1971.

She graduated from Seaway District High School and attended college at the Charles County Community College in LaPlata, Maryland.

Kathy became an American citizen in 1988.

She worked as a technical editorial assistant with the Department of the Navy where she retired in 2012.

Kathy enjoyed spending her time travelling the country with her husband, David, as well as visiting with her family and friends. Kathy had various hobbies that included traveling, sightseeing, playing cards, going to the movies, and crochet.

Kathy made several donations of crocheted goods to local Neonatal Intensive Care Units for sick babies and hats for children fighting cancer.

Kathy is survived by her husband David, her daughter Amber Shampine and her grandchildren Kieran and Eric. She is also survived by her family: Jay Carkner, James Murray, Jackie (Stewart) Hanna, Heather (Brian) Jack, and Eric (Meta) Murray and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Clara (Eamon) Murray, her children Heather, Jason and Megan, and her sister June Carkner.

Kathy will be laid to rest beside her daughter, Megan, in Fairview Cemetery, Brasher Falls, NY.

A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
