MORRISBURG – The annual Terry Fox Run for cancer research takes place this Sunday, September 16th from 8 a.m. to noon at the Morrisburg Legion.
The first Terry Fox Run began in 1981. Since then over $750 million has been raised in support of cancer research. The Terry Fox Foundation contineus to be a leading national investor in cancer research, donating $21.8 million to cancer research programs in 2017-18 alone.
Last year, the Morrisburg Terry Fox Run raised $7,875. In addition, nearly $750 was raised by area schools.
“I invite everyone to come out and run,” said Scott Robinson, event organizer for Morrisburg. “Run, walk, bike. It doesn’t matter. Just get out there.”
Participants can download registration forms from the organization website, terryfox.org. The event route begins at the Morrisburg Legion, and follows Lakeshore Drive. There will be markers marking out the half-way points for the 5 kilometre and 10 kilometre routes.
