Jr. C Lions remain winless in pre-season

The Morrisburg Jr. C Lions remain winless in preseason play in the National Capital Junior Hockey League.

The team hosted the Gananoque Islanders on September 14th, losing the second of the home-and-home series 6-0.

The team went on to play the North Dundas Rockets in Chesterville, losing 4-1.

A home-and-home series against the Cumberland Bandits later in the week saw the Lions lose 7-1 and 6-2. The final pre-season game was against the North Dundas Rockets in Morrisburg on September 20th, the score was unavailable at press time.

“We had a good number of kids trying out this season,” said Kevin Casselman, general manger for the team.

This year, 21 forwards, 10 defenceman, and 9 goaltenders tried out.

The team begins regular practice on September 21st with their final roster.

The 2016-17 season begins on September 24th in Rockland at the Canadian International Hockey Academy arena against the Vankleek Hill Cougars.

The Jr. C Lions host the North Dundas Rockets in their home opener, October 1st at the Morrisburg Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.
