Pete Zeran shoots his age, and then some

Upper Canada golfer, Pete Zeran maintains a pretty steady game, say his playing buddies, who last Thursday, July 16 included, Roger Swerdfeger, Harry Fetterly and Jim Beckstead                           .

In fact the afternoon play resulted in Zeran shooting his age “78” and collecting most of the loose change in his group’s pockets.

“This is the fourth time this year,” said Zeran with a chuckle. “I also shot a 74,” which is quite an accomplishment for a golfer of any age on the difficult Upper Canada course.

Zeran, who started playing golf in the 1960’s in Morrisburg “on Sunday mornings after we had the cows milked”, plays to a 12 handicap.

He looks forward to next year when he will have that one extra stroke to play with…he will celebrate his 79th birthday on November 22nd.

No doubt his 79th birthday will be celebrated at the Morrisburg Curling Club, where he is a very active and very successful curler.
