SDG – Iroquois could be the site of the first roundabout in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.
The idea of constructing a roundabout at the intersection of County Roads 1 and 2, at Iroquois, has been mentioned over the years on several occasions, but staff and counties council may have just taken a step closer to making that roundabout a reality.
At the September 28, SDG counties council meeting, council authorized director of transportation and planning services Ben de Haan to apply to the Small Communities Fund for the County Road 1 and County Road 2 traffic and roadway improvements project.
The project aims to improve County Road 1 from its intersection with County Road 2, south to the Iroquois Locks through reconstruction/rehabilitation work, and to address safety concerns at what is perceived as a dangerous intersection, with the construction of a roundabout.
