Today, the Municipality of South Dundas issued a statement regarding its CAO:
The Municipality and Stephen McDonald, Chief Administrative Officer, wish to announce that they have mutually decided to part ways.
Council thanks Mr. McDonald for his ten years of service to the Municipality and its residents and wishes him the best of success in his future endeavours .

The audience who came out to enjoy the Seaway District High School dinner theatre production of West of the St. Lawrence, held at the school on Friday, June 5, was entertained by a cast of highly dedicated and talented young performers. The production, which featured its own band and adapted music, was a bit of a take-off on classic Westerns. A passing stage actor, accompanied by his long suffering wife, finds himself appointed sheriff of a wild and woolly Canadian town where three feuding ranchers do not keep the peace. And to make matters worse, someone has hired a Gunslinger, who may show up at any time. Full of puns, eccentric characters and plenty of theatrical fun, the show was directed by teachers Laura Oliver and Colleen Lesley and senior drama student, DaniShae Barkley, and sponsored by the Seaway Parents Council. The funds raised by the students’ annual theatrical event are going towards new seats for assemblies and for the cafeteria.
This summer local traffic will experience delays as work takes place on the County Road 1 railroad overpass north of Iroquois.
SDG Counties Council awarded the $698,000 tender for the bridge rehabilitation work at their May meeting.
Carlington Construction Inc. was awarded the contract.
South Dundas deputy mayor and county council member Jim Locke said that the rehabilitation of the bridge will see it reduced to one lane, controlled by traffic signals for 14 weeks.
He reported that the work will take place this summer and that the municipality of South Dundas will receive notice when a start date is set.
Advance polls open in some locations today. Voters who are ready to cast their vote now can do so.
The Iroquois Civic Centre located at 1 Dundas Street East in Iroquois will be holding advance polls from September 21st through to the 25th.
The McIntosh Country Inn & Conference Centre located at 12495 County Road 2 East in Morrisburg will be holding advance polls from September 26th through to the 30th.
There are also advance poll stations in Chesterville, Winchester, Ingleside, Long Sault, Finch and Cornwall. For more information go to the elections website: www.wemakevotingeasy.ca.
