Karen Ouderkirk, owner/operator of MacEwen’s Morrisburg is delighted to once again provide financial support towards this weekend’s Senior’s Christmas Party at Matilda Hall.
Ouderkirk, who has been sponsoring the annual party since it first started, says she and her staff attend every year and have a great time.
“We all enjoy ourselves, and I get to witness first hand the happiness and joy it brings to our area seniors,” says Ouderkirk. “The hum you can hear in the hall as people visit with friends they haven’t seen in awhile is heartwarming.”
“They just love it, and I love it, and all jokes aside, we all love the Santa visit too. Christmas is still Christmas in our area.”
Ouderkirk applauds the Lions Clubs (Morrisburg & District and Iroquois-Matilda) for organizing the annual party.
“I think the easability, the Lions put into it, so it is not stressful and is so easy for our seniors to attend is wonderful. It is so well orchestrated.”
On hand for last Thursday’s photo were Bill MacDonald of the Iroquois-Matilda Lions and Mae Pederson of the Morrisburg and District Lions. The two are members of the Lions Clubs’ organizing committee.
“It’s going great,” said Pederson of this year’s party, this Saturday, November 28. “I am tickled because I know the seniors are really going to enjoy the Christmas music of Roxanne Delage and Rod Robillard. I believe they will be the notch in our belt this year.”
Both MacDonald and Pederson have their fingers crossed that the good weather will continue to hold to make travel to the party easy.
MacDonald says the two clubs are delighted to work together to bring this event to the senior community in South Dundas. “We work together (the two clubs) on quite a few different things and it goes quite well.”
The doors at Matilda Hall will open at 1:15 this Saturday, November 28 for the party that will take place from 2-4 p.m.
Along with the good entertainment and good food, a special “jolly” guest is expected to attend.
Transportation is being provided by Whitteker Bus Lines starting in Iroquois at the Iroma Apartments at 12:20 p.m. followed by pickups at the Hartford Retirement Centre (12:40), Morris Glen (12:50) in Morrisburg and Park Drive Village in Williamsburg at about 1:05.
