Rangers shoot down Rockets twice

Rangers shoot down Rockets in home-and-home series – Sam Limoges-Ring stood tall in net for the South Grenville Rangers as the team picked up a home-and-home series sweep of the North Dundas Rockets over the weekend. Limoges-Ring allowed two goals in game one November 1st in Cardinal and only one goal in the second game on November 2nd. The Rangers goaltending team of Limoges-Ring and Xavier Dusablon lead the National Capital Junior Hockey League standings. Limoges-Ring have a combined 1.50 goals-against-average. CARDINAL – Loaded for bear, the South Grenville Rangers knocked division rivals, the North Dundas Rockets, out of the arena with a pair of wins in a home-and-home series this past week.

The series opened in Cardinal November 1st. Rangers forward Jordan Dodge (from Brody Ranger and Connor Kennedy) scored a short-handed goal 12 minutes into the game. Cole Edgley (from Kennedy and Ranger) doubled the Rangers’ lead four minutes later. South Grenville led North Dundas 2-0.

The Rockets blasted back five minutes into the second period, cutting the Rangers lead in half.

The two-goal lead was restored five minutes later when Matthew O’Brien (from Sam Limoges-Ring and Ranger) scored a power play goal. Rangers led 3-1. Dodge added his second goal of the game late in the third period as the teams traded goals. Rangers doubled the Rockets 4-2. Ranger had four helpers in the game.

The series moved to Chesterville the following night where the Rangers struck early and held on to the lead.

Dodge (unassisted) drew first, blasting the puck past Rockets goalie Sebastien Moreau to put the Rangers in the lead. Less than two minutes later, Joe Maclean (from Dylan Sharpley) made it 2-0 for the Rangers. The Rockets fired back with a goal of their own late in the period. Rangers led the Rockets 2-1.

Late in the second period, Dodge (from Matthew Berry) added an insurance goal, and the Rangers led by two goals.

The Rockets fizzled on the ice with a series of penalties in the third period while cooler heads prevailed on the Rangers bench. Rangers won 3-1 and took both games in the series.

The Rangers lead the West Division by nine points and stayed two points ahead of the Vankleek Hill Cougars for the overall league lead.

South Grenville will take on the Metcalfe Jets November 9th in Cardinal, and visit the West Carleton Inferno in Carp on November 10th.
