SIU investigating Dafoe Road incident

SOUTH STORMONT – A mischief complaint made Monday on Dafoe Road in South Stormont has led to an investigation by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit. The SIU was notified by Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry OPP officers of an interaction with a 65-year-old individual.

The OPP say that officers responded to a mischief complaint on Dafoe Road around 5:30 p.m. September 23rd. At that time the unidentified individual had an interaction with police. The OPP’s Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Canine Unit responded and arrested the individual, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries. That person was transported to hospital. No update on the condition of the person was available.

The SIU has invoked its mandate. The SIU investigates incidents between police and individuals where injuries have occurred.

OPP constable Tylor Copeland said that as a result of the SIU investigation, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.

Monica Hudon with the SIU said that the man arrested was taken to hospital “for treatment of serious injuries.”

*This story was corrected due to an error in the OPP media release indicating the incident occurred in the morning, not in the afternoon.
