IROQUOIS – Huge crowds, over 400 registered cars, and some of the best rock n’ roll music in Eastern Ontario made the annual Golden Gears Car Show held at the Point in Iroquois on Sunday, August 25, a “smash” hit.

Club volunteers welcomed visitors from all over Ontario and from the States, handing out 25 people’s choice awards as well as some major trophies.

Eddy & the Stingrays put on a spectacular stage show that had people up twisting and jiving to the beat. Ideal weather made the day long show even better.

Richard Joly’s 1978 Corvette was awarded the Best Overall People’s Choice Award in memory of late Golden Gears member Dick Piché.

The Brouse Award went to Mike Woodward’s 1964 Dodge; the Prunner Award to Paul Ropar’s 1937 Chev; the Judges’ Award to Dennis Hamelin’s 1932 Ford.

Dave Marcil of Oxford Mills won the 50/50 draw.

The Golden Gears Club supports several local organizations and charities with funds raised at events like their annual Car Show.
