Novice C1 Lions land pair of shutout wins

MORRISBURG – A seven goal effort by forward Ethan Nelson led the Novice C1 Lions to a pair of shut out wins between Christmas and New Years.

The Lions traveled to Smiths Falls to take on the Bears December 29th. The teams were scoreless until midway through the second period when Elijah Geertsema set up Nelson for the lone goal of the game. Lions won 1-0. Goalie Tyler Sterling claimed the shut out win for the team.

South Dundas hosted the Brockville Braves the following day, December 30th. Nelson began his scoring run midway through the first period with his unassisted goal. He scored two more in the second period, followed by three in the third. Thomas Lepage had the other goal for the Lions in the 7-0 shut out win.

Shannon Staye picked up two assists, Lacey Schell, Lepage, and Geertsma each had one. William Hamilton picked up the shut out win between the pipes for the Lions.

The win lifts the Lions into fourth place, two points out of third place. The team returns to the ice on January 19th.
