MORRISBURG – A team effort gave the Bantam B Rep Lions their first win of the season, shutting out the Cornwall Colts 6-0 November 26th at the Morrisburg Arena.
Cam Shaver opened the scoring for the Lions early in the first period on a pass from Spencer Billings. Monty Dejong, Chase Berube, and Jordan Heuff combined for the Lions’ second goal with 1:00 remaining in the period.
Colin Verbruggen added a goal in the second period, setup by Kieran MacQueen. The Lions led the Colts 3-0 into the third period.
Wyatt Barkley scored his first of two goals for the night off a pass from Cameron Lynch, who won the opening face-off of the third period, putting the Lions up 4-0. Jack Link added one of his own 14:21 into the third period, set up by Spencer Barclay. Barkley added his second of the night from Heuff, finishing off the Colts.
Owen Villeneuve claimed the shut out win for the Lions.
South Dundas improves to a record of one win, four losses, one tie for three points.
They sit tied with the South Grenville Rangers in the basement of the UCMHL Bantam B Rep league, but have only played six games so far this season in a lop-sided schedule.
The first place Brockville Braves have 21 points in 12 games.
The Lions host the Char-Lan Rebels November 29th before traveling to the Benson Centre in Cornwall December 3rd for a rematch against the Colts.
