Five new South Dundas artists featured in third annual Studio and Art Tour

SOUTH DUNDAS – It isn’t necessary to go outside the bounds of South Dundas to view some of the most exciting and unique art works anywhere.

On Saturday, August 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., ten outstanding local artists will be opening their studio doors to the public for the 3rd annual Art and Studio Tour & Sale.

This event will provide an opportunity to see many fascinating and eclectic works of art, and to spend time talking with the interesting people who have created them. This special tour will be a rare chance to discuss, enjoy and possibly purchase a one-of-a-kind treasure.

All of the artists, whose homes will be marked with red balloons and signs during the hours of the tour, are from the South Dundas area.

The Leader has profiled several of the artists showing in previous years: we will be profiling those artists who are new to this particular 2018 tour over the next few weeks.

These artists work in several genres ranging from oils, acrylic, charcoal, water colour to mixed media. That wide variety of expression is part of what makes this tour very different every year.

New to the 2018 tour are Karen Fisher, Jan Mills, Marcel Quesnel, Linda Stevenson and Gene Ward.

They will be joined by Dorothy Adlington, Anne Barkley, Elsie Gallinger, Misun Kim-Hunter and Margi Laurin, who have been previously profiled in The Leader.

Whether visitors take in newcomers to the 2018 tour, or return to engage with artists they admired before, the Studio Tour is never, ever the same.

There is always something new to see and to talk about in any artist’s studio.

The artists The Leader has interviewed are passionate about their work: for most, the drive to create, to paint, draw, sketch, sculpt, is part of who they are.

As artist Karen Fisher put it, “Art is the colour to my day. I’m lucky when people like my art, but that is not necessary. I paint for me.”

Marcel Quesnel, a Morrisburg artist, feels much the same way. “Sitting and painting for me is a joy. I enter my own world, my own bubble. I am deeply involved in my projects. It is often very difficult for me to say good-bye to a painting.”

There is no cost to the tour.

Taking in all the stops on the 2018 Art Studio Tour will be a unique and exciting experience for visitors of all ages. Posters and hand bills list the addresses of every artist featured in this year’s tour. Contact 613-360-0642 or visit www.annebarkley.ca for more information.

Mark Saturday August 18, 10-4 p.m. on your calendar and enjoy the one-of-a-kind Art and Studio Tour & Sale, right here in South Dundas.
