Motion to rescind school closure plan will be tabled tonight

Upper Canada District School Board trustee John McAllister, trustee for Ward 4, has placed a request to rescind the UCDSB Building for the Future Accommodation Review report at the October 12th school board meeting (tonight).

The motion, 6.02 on the October 12th meeting agenda, is seconded by Wendy MacPherson. MacPherson was one of two trustees which did not support the initial staff report at the September 28th school board meeting.

The Accommodation Review (ARC) process was passed at the September 28, 2016 school board meeting. The staff report planned several school closures including Seaway District High School, Iroquois Public School and Morrisburg Public School. Students from Seaway DHS would be split between South Grenville in Prescott and North Dundas in Chesterville. Kindergarten to Grade 6 students from Morrisburg and Iroquois Public would be housed in the closed Seaway DHS building.

There will be a community meeting tonight, October 12th at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Seaway District High School for community members to show their support with the efforts to save Seaway District High School.
