Sally Lue Francis, beloved wife of Don Francis of Iroquois since June 18, 1994, passed away on June 24, 2016 at the Ottawa General Hospital after a brief illness.
Sally was born on January 23, 1955, the daughter of the late Garnet and Margaret Casselman, sister to Gayle (Denzil) Prunner and Mac Casselman.
Sally was predeceased by her first husband, Iroquois Firefighter Joe Billings and by her nephew, Willy Prunner.
She was step-mother to Sonya Francis (Rob Barkley) of Hulbert and grandmother to Elly and Wade. She is also sadly missed by many brothers and sisters- in- law and many nieces and nephews.
Sally managed the Iroquois Marina for the past 14 years and there was no place she would rather have been. She fought her illness and was at the Marina up until the last day before she was admitted to hospital.
The outpouring of support from the people at the Marina was a tribute to their love and respect for her and a memorial bench and garden are being erected by them in her honour.
Sally loved life and will always be remembered for her big smile, bubbly personality and love and support of her family, friends and neighbours.
Family and friends called at the Marsden-McLaughlin Funeral Home in Iroquois on Tuesday, June 28 followed by her funeral service on Wed, June 29 with Reverend Janet Evans officiatin
Pallbearers were Casey Veltkamp, John Geurkink, Kevin Brown, Rob Barkley, Bob Lyons and Brian Clifford. Honorary pallbearers were Lorne Froats, Ron Kraft, Jack Coulter and Rick Cheevers. Donations to the Arthritis Society were gratefully acknowledged by the family.
