Home stretch for municipal budget 2016

The Municipality of South Dundas budget is expected to get council approval at the March 15 council meeting, and this approval will finalize weeks of budget review and deliberations.

The almost $6 million budget, which includes $5,110,000 for operations and $828,000 capital, is $364,000, or 6.5 per cent, higher than the 2015 final budget.

This increase will mean that the owner of an average home in South Dundas, which is valued at $179,718, will see an increase of about $16.57 on the municipal portion of their tax bill. The counties portion is rising about $14 and the education portion is expected to remain about the same.
