In two games over the holidays, the South Dundas Atom B House Lions added two points on two ties to their regular season standings which see them in the fourth place spot of the Upper Canada East Division.
While the Lions are in fourth spot, they have also now played in just nine games, while first place South Grenville, with 19 points, have played 14 games and second place Kemptville 2s have collected 18 points in 16 games.
The Lions kicked off their holiday action in Chesterville, on Wednesday, December 30, with a 2-2 tie against the North Dundas Demons.
The west-division Demons went into the play in their division’s fourth place with seven points in 14 games.
The December 30 game got rolling with a first period goal from the Lions Wyatt Barkley assisted by Caillum Deavey.
In the second period the Demons got on board with a Jonathon Seguin goal to tie it 1-1.
That held until late in the frame when the Lions again took the lead, this time with a Zack Scarbeau counter assisted by Cameron Stewart.
In the third period, Sam Hart scored on the Demons power play to tie the game 2-2 and that is the way it stayed.
The Lions skated into the new year on home ice, Saturday, January 2. In town for the match were the Brockville Atom B2 Braves, and at the end of 32 minutes of action, the scoreboard read 2-2.
Wyatt Barkley put the Lions on the scoreboard 3:15 into the 10 minute first period with help from Taelyn Rowe.
The Lions’ advantage lasted until 3:53 into the second period when the Braves, Mason Held beat Lions goaltender Aiden Hutt to tie it 1-1.
With the minutes ticking away in the second period, the Brave weren’t finished yet, and with 2:44 left, Wesley Strang put them up 2-1.
The Lions charged back and before the period ended Noelle Hatherall (from Travis Faulkner) had tied the game 2-2.
A scoreless third period finished it off leaving the game tied at 2-2.
