Have you noticed a few extra hairy lips lately? The annual Dare to Flash a ‘Stache event is coming to a close as participants grow a moustache during the month of November.
The goal is to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer care and research.
All donations stay local with half going to the Winchester District Hospital (WDMH) Foundation and half going to prostate cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital.
At WDMH, funds raised benefit the Cancer Care Navigator Program. WDMH’s Cancer Care Navigator provides support and education to cancer patients and their families – helping them navigate their care and connect with local community resources.
The service is available to all cancer patients in the local area and no referrals are required.
“We can’t thank the organizers, sponsors and participants enough,” noted Anne Van Delst, WDMH Foundation Board Chair. “This team raises funds – but they also raise awareness about the importance of proper screening for prostate cancer.”
The event culminates with a wind-up party on November 28, at 8 p.m. at the Joel Steele Community Centre in Winchester. Marleen Fawcett and her band Mountain Breeze will perform and there will be a silent auction. Admission is $10.
