Intern joins South Dundas Recreation

Michaela Morrow will be completing an Internship during the 2015-2016 school year, with South Dundas Recreation. The Municipality of South Dundas made the announcement October 2.

Morrow is no stranger to the South Dundas community, having attended Seaway District High School where she participated in a variety of sports including hockey, soccer, volleyball and basketball.

Outside of school she was a part of the hockey and soccer organizations within South Dundas.

“Sport was and still is a defining part of my life. I think that is what lead to me to the field of Human Kinetics,” she says.

Morrow is now in her fourth and final year at the University of Ottawa where she is completing an Honours Bachelor of Arts with Specialization in Human Kinetics. Human Kinetics is the study of human movement, with additional focus on business, leisure and recreation and social aspects of movement.

“When people think of Human Kinetics, they tend to think of physiotherapists or chiropractors. In reality, there is so much more you can do with a program like this,” she added.

Part of her program requirement is completing an internship of 100 hours in a work environment related to her field.

Her interest in sport and recreation lead her to the Municipality of South Dundas where she will work with Recreation Program Coordinator Ben Macpherson.
