Time to head out to the plowing match

SDG is playing hosting to the biggest event this county has ever seen.

The 2015 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo, the largest outdoor exhibition of its kind in Canada opened its gates near Finch, Tuesday, September 22.

The opening parade took place yesterday. 

Among the thousands of visitors expected to attend the IPM are the leaders of the three Federal parties and  Ontario’s Provincial Party Leaders.

“For a few years now, a great team of community leaders, farmers and friends, has worked together, with diligence and pride, to make this year’s IPM a memorable event for visitors, exhibitors and entertainers,” said Jim Brownell, IPM chairman. 

Over 900 volunteers are involved with IPM 2015, which expects to see about 80,000 visitors. 

There’s still time to be check it out. The 2015 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo runs September 22 through September 26. 

This is the third time in 102 years that an IPM has taken place within the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.
