Invite Him, He will come
The summer is here and many are traveling and taking time to be with family and friends. It’s nice to have some warm weather, and be able to enjoy the outdoors. If you’re finding it too hot, remember this weather in the middle of February!
Recently Sarah and I were in Florida with Jacob and while we were there, we took him to Disney. As you can imagine, he was thrilled to meet all the life size characters.
Jacob loved having breakfast and lunch with some of his favourite characters…Tigger, and Winnie the Pooh. There was one other place he loved to eat. There wasn’t any characters there and the food wasn’t the attraction, but instead it was the Monorail that ran on a track through the building where you eat.
Jacob was fascinated by this. Every 4-6 minutes another train would pass by. It wasn’t long and Jacob was on to a new word. He would call to the train “come, come”, holding his hand up in the air and waving it for the train to come into the building. He didn’t know the schedule nor did he understand the purpose of that train.
All he knew was he wanted it to come back. As the train would pass by he would watch it go, and on its exit he would say “bye”.
As you can imagine this was a great joy for Sarah and I to watch. Seconds after the train was gone, he would begin again “come, come”… waiting for its arrival again.
I couldn’t help but think about how often in my life I have called on God to help me. I didn’t know why something was happening, or maybe I wasn’t sure of what direction to take, and so I would call on God.
Much like Jacob, not fully understanding the train, I don’t fully understand God, but I know that when I call to Him, he comes.
Jacob discovered in calling the train each time, it would come again, his little hand in the air waving the train in.
In times of trouble, we often call on God for help because we don’t know what to do. It’s not only in times of trouble we are invited to call on God though.
God invites us to have a relationship with him. Not an emergency only based relationship but a daily relationship, like one would have with a friend. We are invited to call on God every day.
Have you invited Jesus to come to you? He is waiting for an invitation and when you do, He will come.
