Splashpad is on!

Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. more than a dozen children were already enjoying the new splashpad in Morrisburg’s Earl Baker Park.

Technicians, community volunteers and municipal workers met on site at 10 a.m.

Technicians were testing and calibrating the system, while a few children looked on hopeful that today would be the day they could finally try out the new splashpad.

After only a minor delay, the system was up and running.

Once the water started to flow more than a dozen children converged at the site to play, much to the delight of all the people who were looking on who played a part in getting this community project finished.

An official opening for the splash pad is planned for Saturday, July 18, to commemorate completion of the project and to acknowledge those who made it possible.

But for all the children, unconcerned with the official opening, the splashpad is ready and waiting for them to enjoy.

The splashpad is operational from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. daily.
