Royal Canadian Legion Branch 48 Ladies Auxiliary celebrates 75 years

The milestone anniversary included a dinner, awards, and guest speeches from invited dignitaries, celebrating the good work and support in the legion and broader community by this Ladies Auxiliary. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 48 Ladies Auxiliary in Morrisburg celebrated their 75th anniversary at a gala on October 4. Community members and LA members from neighbouring auxiliaries joined with the Branch 48 members for the occasion. Three Ladies Auxiliary members received milestone pins in recognition of their years of service with the organization. SDG MP Eric Duncan, SDSG MPP Nolan Quinn, and South Dundas Mayor Jason Broad presented commemoration certificates to Branch 48 Ladies’ Auxiliary President Debbie Shaver. Quinn also presented a congratulatory certificate from Premier Doug Ford.
In offering his congratulations to the Ladies Auxiliary, David Lapier spoke of the willingness to serve the community, and generosity of the organization. Lapier highlighted community donations to youth sports organizations like hockey, soccer, and figure skating, and supporting those in need. As funeral director for Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home, Lapier said the Ladies Auxiliary is always there when needed. Event MC Dr. Wayne Domanko spoke of the organization’s spirit of giving in support of the community and the Angel Tree at Christmas.
