‘Total burn ban’ in effect for South Dundas

MORRISBURG – The Municipality of South Dundas issued a burn ban for the municipality at 8:30 a.m. this morning (July 31st).

“South Dundas is under a total burn ban,” said South Dundas communications coordinator Kalynn Sawyer Helmer in a release.

Under a burn ban, any one with a burn permit from the municipality cannot call to have it activated. Any permit holders whose permit was activated by South Dundas was contact Wednesday morning to inform them not to use them.

The region has been in the clutches of a heat wave for the past two weeks with Environment and Climate Change Canada issuing several extreme heat advisories. There has been little relief even with the precipitation that has fallen.

The weather forecast for South Dundas through Tubie Weekend calls for hot and sunny conditions.
