MORRISBURG – Rural Economic Development program funds are coming this way thanks to a successful partnership between the Municipality of South Dundas and the United Counties of SDG, and the provincial government.
Together SDG and South Dundas successfully applied for funding for the Morrisburg streetscaping design work on County Road 2 in Morrisburg, including the County Road 2 and 31 intersection.
RED funding in the amount of $67,500 will be awarded for the design work.
“This will allow us to hire a consulting company to marry the art and the science of the project,” South Dundas economic development officer Rob Hunter told The Leader. “With this, the project will be shovel ready,” he added.
SDG will also contribute $67,500 to the design work on the project for the county road.
South Dundas’ contribution to the project will be in-kind, providing staff services.
“I think this application was strengthened by the fact that this is a partnership project,” said Hunter.
The Counties approved the funding agreement at its May 22 meeting and South Dundas held a special meeting May 28 for council to approve the agreement, which they did.
