
MORRISBURG – With new information and council approval, the Forward House demolition issue was re-opened at the April 3rd council meeting.
A report from director of recreation and facilities Ben Macpherson, included new information from a substance review and three options for council decide how to proceed.
The options:
- Option 1 – to demolish the existing campsite and Forward House buildings and build a new campsite building at the Forward House location.
- Option 2 – to demolish the campsite and Forward House buildings and build the new campsite building on a new location.
- Option 3 – to demolish the campsite building, to leave the Forward House building standing and build the new campsite building on a new location.
After much debate and a recorded vote council selected Option 3.
In favour of the option that will leave Forward House standing were councillors Marc St. Pierre, Bill Ewing and Archie Mellan. Mayor Evonne Delegarde and deputy mayor Jim Locke opposed the motion.
