MORRISBURG – The vision for streetscape and landscape improvements was laid out for South Dundas council at its September 5th meeting.

The consultants that also completed the 2016 vehicle and pedestrian traffic review study, were tasked with this plan as well.

The vision encompasses County Road 2 from Augusta Street in the west to Pilot Way in the east and includes the Morrisburg Plaza.

Part of this vision includes the anticipation that the County Road 2 and 31 will become a round-a-bout.

The Morrisburg Main Street concept, takes the ‘Main Street streetscaping to County Road 2, rather than along Main Street Morrisburg which is actually the street that travels through the Morrisburg Plaza.

South Dundas council approved the report allowing staff to continue discussions with SDG counties representatives regarding the plan.

South Dundas economic development officer Rob Hunter expects to hold a public open house this fall to gather feedback regarding the concept plan.

The estimated cost for the entire project is almost $700,000.

The 2017 economic development budget included a $50,000 allocation for streetscape enhancements. Those funds will be directed to reserves with the expectation that council will commit additional funds in future budgets to help finance any approved projects.
