LONG SAULT – The regular season concluded for the Seaway District High School boys varsity hockey team in Long Sault February 14th, with Seaway winning two games, landing a spot in the playoffs.

Glengarry Gaels 1
Griffin Patterson scored a double hat-trick, while Curran Gilmour and Will DeJong scored a goal apiece as the Spartans beat the Gaels 8-1.
Patterson opened scoring midway through the first half, scoring four minutes apart. Glengarry scored with 1:35 left in the first half, beating goalie Wes Alexander. Seaway led 2-1 at half-time.
Patterson kicked off scoring in the second frame, followed by Gilmour to Seaway up 4-1. Patterson kept sending pucks past Glengarry goalie John Noel, beating him three more times in five minutes, as the Spartans win 8-1. Matt Backes and Randy Kellar had two assists apiece. Kellar was turfed later in the second half on an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and suspended for a game.

La Citadelle Patriotes 0
Seaway goalie Wes Alexander stood tall in net for the second game of the day, shutting out La Citadelle, 2-0.
Griffin Patterson added to his double hat-trick performance from game one, scoring early in the second half on a pass from Cal Bilmer to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead. Bilmer added a goal of his own with 3:30 left in the game. Matt Backes had the helper on Bilmer’s goal.
The two wins put the Spartans in third place in the regular season, advancing to the playoffs. Seaway will face second place Char-Lan, and St. Joes will take on Glengarry. The winner will move on to EOSSAA in Cornwall.
