Jeannie Mattice

Peacefully at Winchester District Memorial Hospital, with family by her side, on February 2nd, 2017, Jean Mattice (nee Lindsay) of Iroquois passed away. She was 81. Jean was the daughter of the late Graham Lindsay and the late Elizabeth Lindsay (nee Caloren) of Iroquois. She was the dearly loved wife of the late Lyle Mattice of Iroquois. He predeceased her in 2012. Jean was the loving mother of Brent Mattice (Tina) of Iroquois, and Carol Mattice of B.C. She was the cherished grandmother of Taylore Mattice (Callum Boyd) of Embrun and Drew Mattice of Toronto. Jean is also survived by her sister Isabel McInnis (Mike) of Morrisburg and Gord Lindsay (Kay) of Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. She graduated from Iroquois High School and then worked for Bell Telephone in Iroquois and Brockville. Later, she worked for Bank of Montreal in Iroquois and Williamsburg, retiring in 1991 when being Nana became a priority. She was an amazing Nana as well as a loving and supportive mom. Jean enjoyed golfing, sewing, playing cards and even a brief acting career in a couple of the local Lions Club productions. Jean and Lyle had a circle of friends that had lots of fun at many activities. When Lyle passed, Jean was very fortunate that many of those friends and her family kept her active. She was regularly out to shop, or for a meal, a game of cards, or just a visit. At Jean’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral. A committal of her ashes and a private family celebration of life will be held in the spring. Donations to Knox Presbyterian Church in Iroquois and Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be gratefully acknowledged by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home in Iroquois.
