Shirley Isabel Mackler

Shirley Isabel Mackler (nee Dowdall) passed away peacefully at Winchester District Memorial Hospital with her caring family by her side.

Shirley was the beloved wife of Jack Mackler for over 60 years.

She was the loving mother and grandmother of Karen (David Berg) of Kingston; Kevin (Margaret) of Chesterville and their daughter Meaghan; Glen (Lisa) of Morrisburg, and their children Colin (Sophie), Sarah, Connor, Sam and Ty ; Brenda (Bill Bakker) of Russell and their daughters Brittany, Katie and Rachael; and John (Annie) of Toronto and their children Lorelai and Daniel.

Shirley is survived by her sisters Joan Harper and Eleanor Saunders both of Perth, and predeceased by her sister Jean Laing, and her brothers Jack and Kenneth.   She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

She was an extraordinary stay-at-home mom and wife who devoted her life to her family raising her five children, perfecting the art of pie making and enjoying hockey over the years.

Words cannot describe how much her family will miss MA/Mom/Shirley/Grandma.   Not a day will pass when her family will not think of her and remember a funny story, or picture her in the kitchen, or see her on her favourite chair in the living room. They are so thankful she was theirs.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion at 167 Queen Street, Chesterville, Ontario on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 1 – 4 p.m. Donations to Winchester Hospital would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
