Ed Funke

A long, interesting life of service, achievement and curiosity came to a peaceful end on July 23.

Ed Funke (retired National Research Council) is survived by wife Dorothy, children Alice (Eric Beauchesne), Louise (Peter Giannoccaro), John & Charlotte (Jean-Michel LeMellédo), six grandchildren: Justin, Holly, Dylan, Kelsey, Ian & Erika, two great-grandchildren: Kai & Toshiye, as well as sister Ly-Anne O’Dwyer, nieces Katie & Anne in the US, and the Schneider family in Switzerland.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rudolf & Ruth Funke, and sister Mary Louise “Malou” (Funke) Campbell.

Our family would like to thank Emile Murwanashyaka and the entire staff at the Rockcliffe Retirement Residence where Ed spent his final few months receiving such excellent, patient and compassionate care, and also Dr. René Leiva for his care, compassion and assistance.

Visitation 9 – 11 a.m. Monday Aug. 8, 2016, at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Central Chapel, 315 McLeod St, Ottawa K2P 1A2, followed by a service at 11 a.m. and reception.
