Civil War re-enactment event at UCV cancelled

A Civil War Re-enactment planned for Upper Canada Village has been cancelled.

The special event was planned for August 6, but last week, it was announced that the re-enactment will not take place.

“The organizer of the event was not able to enlist enough re-enactors for the event this year,” Susan Le Clair, manager customer service and corporate communications for the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, told The Leader.

Although the re-enactment will not be taking place, Le Clair says that guests are welcome to discuss the Civil War with the village’s interpretive staff.

“Our interpreters are very knowledgeable and are always happy to discuss how it impacted Upper Canada.”

Also, over the August 6th weekend, the village will offer additional entertainment alongside regular programming.

Both Saturday and Sunday, a six piece brass band will be playing antique instruments provided by Upper Canada Village.
