Three for Beckstead in 4-1 Kickers Win

Wyatt Beckstead had little trouble finding the net on June 30 against Ottawa City. Beckstead’s natural hat trick for the Seaway Kickers, along with a fourth goal added by Keiran Geurkink saw the Kickers down City 4-1 at Sir Robert Borden High School in Ottawa.

Scoring opened seven minutes into the first half with Beckstead breaking through City’s right defense, 1-0 Seaway.

Ottawa City tied the game three minutes later with a two-player attack on goalkeeper Josh Corput, 1-1.

At the 20 minute mark, Beckstead netted his second goal of the night with a drive down the right side and into the top corner of Ottawa’s goal, 2-1.

Beckstead completed the natural hat trick with four minutes remaining in the first half, low and in the corner, 3-1 Seaway at the half.

Ottawa City held the Kickers in their own end for the first 16 minutes of the second half, challenging goalkeeper Jacob Garlough, who made three key saves in rapid succession. Seaway then controlled the field for much of the second half.

Geurkink netted his third goal of the season in the final two minutes of play on a breakaway drive on Ottawa’s end. Final score, Seaway Kickers 4, Ottawa City 1.

The Kickers begin the first of a five-game home stand against Ottawa City, Thursday July 7th at the soccer fields in Iroquois. 6:30 p.m. kickoff.
