A lifetime resident of the area, Lana Barkley of Hanesville, passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Thursday, June 16, 2016, following a one year battle with cancer. She was 65.
Lana was born in Hulbert, on February 15, 1951, to her parents Ray and Jean Adams (nee McIntosh).
She was a devoted member of the staff at Community Living Dundas County for over 33 years, and she will be dearly missed by her clients and her fellow workers.
Lana enjoyed travelling, going to the casino and watching horse races. She possessed a wonderful sense of humour and she loved to laugh and joke with her family and friends.
Lana is survived by her loving companion Henry Simzer, her son Rob Barkley (Sonya Francis) of South Mountain, the light of her life and her only granddaughter Elly Jean and her brother Almon Adams of Hulbert.
She was predeceased by her parents Ray and Jean Adams (nee McIntosh), her sister Eleanor Francis and her brother Lee Adams. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Lana’s Life will be held at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Williamsburg, on Friday, June 24th from 1-3 p.m.
Donations to Community Living Dundas County would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
