Industrial park expansion brings new business

While a few parcels of land have been purchased in the newly expanded Morrisburg industrial park, the first sign of a new business appeared last week.

Jay and Jill Buckland have announced plans to build a self storage facility called Morrisburg Self Storage along the Campbell Street extension.

“We are hoping to start excavation for the project in the next week or two,” said Buckland. The property has been cleared of vegetation, and excavation will take place as soon as the land dries up a bit.

Morrisburg Storage is meant to be a multi-phase project, beginning with phase one, which will provide 38 additional self storage units for the area.

“Additional buildings will be built as customer demand dictates, for a total of up to four buildings, with a total of 152 units,” said Buckland.

Outdoor storage for recreational vehicles, boats, etc., is also planned.

They intend to be open for business July/August, 2016.

The Bucklands also run a hydroseeding business out of Brockville.

The Morrisburg Self Storage endeavour will be their first self storage facility.

“We have been interested in establishing a self storage facility for quite a few years and have been looking for a suitable location,” they told The Leader

“We decided to build in Morrisburg as a result of the new phase of the industrial park being developed and suitable land available.”

They believe there is a great need for this type of facility in Morrisburg.
