Sweethearts or not, Canada Day Committee would love for everyone to support upcoming fundraiser

The Morrisburg Canada Day Committee would love to see the Morrisburg Legion packed for its upcoming fundraiser – a sweetheart dinner and dance, Saturday, February 13th.

The Canada Day Committee is a stand alone committee of about a dozen volunteers that organizes and hosts the Morrisburg Canada Day celebrations annually.

Each time the committee hosts a successful fundraiser, the money goes towards upcoming Canada Day celebrations.

Not only is the committee raising funds for the this year’s event, they are also looking forward to 2017.

As 2017 marks Canada’s 150th birthday, the Morrisburg Canada Day Committee is planning to make the 2017 Canada Day celebration the biggest and best ever.

“We want to make the 2017 Canada Day celebration, a two day event,” said Jim Martin, of the committee.

While 2017 is always in the back of their minds, their attention is now on the sweetheart dinner and dance.

“You don’t have to be a sweetheart to attend, just come and enjoy the evening,” says Viviane Martin, who is also a committee member.

“I think its a pretty good value too,” added Jim.

Dinner and dance tickets are $30 per person and includes a prime rib dinner, with all the trimmings, by the Morrisburg Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

After dinner, Rogue, a band that plays every year at Morrisburg’s Canada Day has donated their time. From 8 p.m. to midnight the four piece band will play a selection of rock and country-rock favourites.

Dance-only tickets will be sold at the door, for $10 per person.

February 4th is the deadline to purchase meal tickets, so please do so as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

The Canada Day Committee welcomes anyone with ideas to join the committee or to contact the committee with their ideas to help make Canada Day the great party it should be – this year and next.

Key contacts for the Canada Day Committee are Jim and Viviane Martin and Keith and Linda Robinson.
