Morrisburg bridge dedicated to fallen officer Ronald Pitt

August 24, 1957, Constable Ronald Pitt, then 34, of the Morrisburg Police Force, was shot by two gunmen as he approached a stolen vehicle in Morrisburg. He died from his injuries and no one has ever been apprehended or charged for the murder of Constable Pitt.

The Pitt name and this crime is one that is fairly well-known to locals, and now a lot more people will see the Pitt name and associate it with Morrisburg.

November 13, the bridge over Highway 401 at Morrisburg was officially dedicated to fallen officer Ronald Pitt. Memorial signs bearing his name and police service crest have been posted at each side of the bridge on Highway 401 in his honour.
