A lifetime resident of the area, Cecil Lewis passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, following a lengthy illness. He was 75.

Cecil was born in Matilda Township on April 12, 1940, to his parents Donald and Alice Lewis (nee Kelly).  

After he finished school, Cecil worked at Brown’s Foundry for many years.  

Cecil was an avid sportsman.  

He loved fishing and playing euchre. He enjoyed playing and watching fastball, lob ball, darts and hockey.  

Cecil Lewis is survived by his stepson Steve “Nig” Casselman (Bonnie Garlough) of R.R.# 2 Williamsburg.  

Papa will be fondly remembered by Linda O’Neil (Jeff), Wayne Garlough, Brianna, Sierra and Aliesha O’Neil.  

He was the dear brother of Charlie (Ann) of R.R.# 1 Morrisburg, Jean DeJong (Bill) of R.R.# 1 Morrisburg, Florence Merkley of Williamsburg, Bev Lewis of Williamsburg, Donnie (Lynn) of Morrisburg and Carol Birch of Morrisburg  He was predeceased by his wife Sharon Lewis (nee Reid) and his sisters Flossie Doherty and Charlotte Lewis.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews.  

Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Williamsburg, on Thursday from 7-9 p.m.  There was no formal funeral service.  

Interment of cremated remains was at New Union Cemetery, Williamsburg.
