Pauline Robertson

Lorne McKeown passed away at the Dundas Manor on Monday, January 27, 2014, at the age of 87.  

A kind, caring person with a twinkle in his eye, Lorne always had a quick joke or pun to try out on you – some better than others!

Lorne was born in Montreal, on May 10, 1926, to the late Ethel (nee Strong) and Richard McKeown of Verdun.  

He met his partner for life, Ellen Patterson of Gaspe in Montreal, through the youth group at the Anglican Church. They married and settled in Pointe Claire, where they built a house and made it a home for their three children for twenty-five years.

Lorne worked at CIL in the engineering department in Montreal for almost 25 years. He   transferred to Toronto for a few years, and finished his working career at the Cornwall CIL plant.

Ellen and Lorne had bought a farm in the Morrisburg area eight years earlier, and with retirement Lorne could finally putter to his heart’s content. 

Lorne had a “can do” approach to things, and liked a challenge. He went so far as to build a sail boat in his basement, having to dismantle it to get it outside! And yes it did sail well!

Lorne and Ellen always enjoyed travelling.  They took their young family travelling and camping for years.  After the kids left home they made annual trips south to Florida for the winter for some twenty-three years. With two of their children living in BC, they also crisscrossed the U.S. and Canada often to visit. 

With the onset of Alzheimer’s, Ellen and Lorne remained home in Morrisburg, year round. Lorne had lived at the Dundas Manor for the last two years of his life.

Lorne is survived by his wife Ellen of 63 years, and their children Valerie (Dave) Skjonsberg of Cranbrook BC, Karen McKeown (Dave Bustard) of Smithers BC, and Larry (Lori, and children Alan and Lisa) of Morrisburg. 

Lorne is grandfather of Denise Bustard (Ben Domaschenz) of Calgary AB, Patrick Bustard of Victoria BC, and Jesse McKeown of Morrisburg, and great-grandfather of Kai Domaschenz of Calgary.

A private funeral service was held at Parker Funeral Home, Morrisburg on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sue McCullough officiating.

A lifetime resident of the Iroquois area, Ina Claxton passed away at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 14, 2012. She was 90.

Ina was born in Iroquois on December 2, 1921, to her parents William and Edith Roberts (nee Dobbie). She married Albert G. Claxton on September 27, 1947. Albert passed away on September 14, 1995.

Ina is survived by her children Albert Jr. (Madeline) of R.R.# 1 Morrisburg, Allen (Dianne) of Morrisburg, Sharon Marion of Marionville, Bruce of R.R.# 1 Iroquois and Linda (Ian) Adams of Trenton.

She will be fondly remembered by 10 grandchildren, ninegreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.  

She was predeceased by her husband Albert, by her sisters Winnie Dunlevy, Jessie Goudreau, Mary Roberts, and by her brothers Dan, Charlie, Ted, Percy, Joe, Leonard and William Roberts.  

She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Iroquois, on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  

Funeral service was held at the funeral home on Monday, September 17th at 11 a.m., with Rev. Geoff Howard officiating.

Interment followed at Iroquois Point Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were grandsons Brent Claxton, Keith Claxton, Steven Claxton, Derek Claxton, Matthew Adams and Jacob Adams. 

Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters Stacey Gore, Jennifer Marion and Kate Adams.

Donations to Winchester  District Memorial Hospital or C.H.E.O. would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Dwayne Robert Casselman died suddenly at his home in Blackie, Alberta, on Thursday, October 27, 2011. He was 70 years old.

Dwayne leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Myrna, his daughters Linda and Laura and his step-daughters Shawn and Kelly. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered by his sisters and brothers: Betty (Fred) Hutt, Anne Thompson, Shirley (Jack) Nelson, Barbara Benson (Bill Barnett), Charlotte (David) Froats, Gordon (Shirley), Marian, Karl (Brenda), Susan (Mac) Lewis, Janet, Janice Bradford, Sandra, Cathy, Darlene (Martin) Vanderbruggen and Donna (Karl) Billings. He is survived by his sister-in-law Tilda (Arnold) and by many nieces and nephews.

Dwayne was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Margaret Casselman; by brothers, Delbert Arnold, and Allen; by brothers-in-law John Thompson and Ron Bradford.

A Celebration of Dwayne’s life was held at High River, Alberta. The Honour Guard was the Sam Steele’s Scouts Association.
