On April 26th, at approximately 3 p.m., an SD&G OPP officer stopped an eastbound Pontiac on County Road 2.
The driver was reported to be driving 133 kilometers per hour in posted 80 kilometer per hour zone.
According to Constable Pete Robertson, the penalties for driving more than 50 kilometers per hour over the speed limit could include a seven day license suspension, the vehicle being seized for seven days, and possible fines ranging anywhere from a minimum of $2,000 to a maximum of $10,000.

Charlie Eamon, long-time resident of Morrisburg and a World War Two veteran, turned 90 years old on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th. He celebrated his milestone birthday with friends and family on April 7th at the Royal Canadian Legion’s Morrisburg branch. The Easter weekend party brought opportunities for new memorable moments when, in addition to family and friends, Jim McDonell, MPP for Stormont, Dundas, and South Glengarry, dropped by the Legion to congratulate Eamon on his latest milestone. The two, deep in conversation, took a moment to pose for a photograph.
On Friday, November 2, Ken Hasson, left, and Jamie Thompson, right, owners of Thompson Tim-Br Mart in Iroquois, recognized 20-year employee Mike Deschamps. “We want to thank you for your many years of service,” said Jamie Thompson who made the presentation in the store with Deschamps’ fellow workers and several customers in attendance. “We really appreciate it.” Deschamps started working in the yard at Tim-Br Mart 20 years ago, and worked his way up to deliveries. He is now the operator of the company’s 20-ton Crane delivery truck. “I enjoy being on the truck,” said Deschamps. “It’s nice to be out and about. You meet some nice people.” “Thompson Tim-Br Mart prides itself on loyal, long-term employees,” said Hasson. “Mike is our fourth member to reach the 20 year service level. Our customers and our contractors are always glad to see Mike.”
“This is something we look forward to doing,” said Hanne Rycroft, co-owner of the Basket Case in Morrisburg. “This is our second annual Christmas Craft show, and also the fourth anniversary of our business here in Morrisburg. This is a joint celebration.” The craft show on December 3 offered many delicious home baked goods and goodies to visitors as well as the opportunity to see many crafts, including a Christmas tree completely decked out in locally made decorations. The Basket Case also presented some new authors to the community and collected goods for the Dundas Food Bank. “People have been very generous,” Rycroft said.
