Auditor gives South Dundas clean bill of health

Auditor’s report indicates the Municipality of South Dundas is financially healthy.
Jamie Pollock of Craig Keen Despatie Markell LLP addressed the 2015 Draft Financial Statements at the August 16 council meeting.
“It’s a clean audit statement,” Pollock said. “That’s what you want to hear from us. These are, in all materially respects, accurate financial statements and (you) can rely on this financial information for your own use.”
The operating surplus for the year was roughly $243,031, Pollock said.
“You had a good year, a good positive surplus,” he said. “You’re actually in very strong financial shape.”
Following his detailed analysis, Pollock said his firm had some recommendations for municipal staff, which had already been discussed with applicable South Dundas’ employees, including the suggestion that the municipality should bill for municipal drains on a regular basis, excess cash in the restricted fund should be transferred to the operating bank account, and staying on top of water plant finances.
