Organic Factory Outlet now open

Since purchasing its Morrisburg property, Homestead Organics has continued to grow its operations here, and last week that growth continued with the opening of its new factory outlet.

Like all other aspects of the organic processing company, the opening of the outlet represents the first in a three phase plan which will see the site continue to grow in support of president Tom Manley’s vision of becoming organics central.

Homestead Organics purchased the Allison Avenue property in 2013 and by October 2014 they were operational and shipping out test batches. A year ago, they purchased and opened an on site flour mill.

Jean-Guy Vaillancourt is product expert and in charge the factory outlet.

On opening day, which was May 19th, he told The Leader that on day one, the first phase was complete.

The plan for phase one was to sell Homestead Organics’ internal products which include organic flours and seeds, soil maintenance products and pest controls.

The outlet is stocked with a wide variety of flours in 1 kg and 10 kg sizes, and 20 kg sizes are available for those looking for bulk value.

“Now we are moving on to the second phase,” he said, estimated that within a month the shelves should be fully stocked with organic food products. The third phase organic frozen yogurts and meats will be added to the outlet’s offerings.

“Our hope is that by the end of summer we will be able to hold our first organics farmers market,” he said. The vision is for the organics farmers market to become a regular happening on Saturdays.

“We are looking to grow bigger and get a lot of foot traffic through here,” said Vaillancourt. “We want people to know that we are here to serve and please.”
