Joyce Markell

 

A lifetime resident of Dundela, Joyce Markell passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital on Sunday, October 11, 2015.  She was 52.

Joyce was born in Winchester, on August 6, 1963, to her parents Robert and Helen Markell.  She attended Dixon’s Corners Public School and Seaway District High School.

Joyce will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her big smile and her love of bingo.

Joyce is survived by her daughter Annabelle Markell (Chris Brown) of Morrisburg, her grandchildren Michelle, James and Deven Brown and her siblings Wilma Montroy (Bernie) of Dundela, Shirley Amell (Don) of Ingleside, Ross Markell (Peggy) of Iroquois and Lorne Markell of Cornwall.

She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Helen Markell, her sisters Goldie Markell and Viola O’Neil, her nephew Robert “Chubby” Montroy and her nieces Julie Markell and Lacie O’Neil.  

She is also survived by nieces and nephews.  

Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Williamsburg, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  

Funeral service was held at the funeral home on Friday, October 16th, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Janet Evans officiating.  

Interment followed at Spruce Haven Cemetery, Brinston. 

Pallbearers were Calvin Markell, Bradley Markell, Chad Markell, Roland Amell, Darren Tyo and Mike Keeler.  

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
