Paul Wood

A lifetime resident of the Winchester area, Robert (Bob) St. Pierre, passed away early in the afternoon on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was 64 years young.

Robert was born in Winchester on September 7th, 1947, to his parents Leo Paul and Cecile St. Pierre (nee Gagnon). He was one of five children; Yvonne, Robert, Suzie, Roger and Bernard. 

On April 25th, 1970, Robert was blissfully wed to Suzanne (nee Johnston). He was a farmer by trade and an avid curler and golfer at heart. 

In his retirement he added “Chef” to his list of attributes, much to the satisfaction of his family.

Robert’s memory will live on in his wife Sue, his sons Jason and Mark, their wives Cathy and Karen, and his much cherished grandchildren Aleisha, Bryce, Sebastien and Chloe. 

He is survived by his father Leo Paul of Embrun, his siblings Yvonne (Ken) Lavigne of Bowmanville, Suzanne St. Pierre of Ottawa and Roger St. Pierre of Ottawa, as well as by many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He was predeceased by his mother Cecile and his brother Bernard.

In tribute to the way Robert lived, a celebration of life was held at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Williamsburg on Sunday, March 25th at 2 p.m. followed by a luncheon at his second home, the Cedar Glen Golf Course.

Robert’s family expressed their gratitude to everyone who assisted with his rehabilitation after his surgery and to the caring staff at WDMH who made his last days as meaningful and comfortable as possible.

A resident of the Iroquois area for the past 62 years, Jenny Doesburg passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital on Monday, November 10, 2014, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Jenny was born in Bedum, The Netherlands on September 11, 1943, to her parents Symon and Clasina Doesburg (nee Vanderkruk). In 1952, at the age of eight, Jenny immigrated with her family to Canada where they settled in the Brinston area.  

Jenny worked at Caldwell Linen Mills for over 25 years. She loved country music, dancing, taking trips with Dundas Tours, eating out and visiting with her friends at Tim Hortons.

Jenny is survived by her loving companion Leland Dawson, her sister Tina Doesburg of Iroquois and her brother John Doesburg (Ruth) of Mariatown.  

She will be lovingly remembered by her nephews John Doesburg Jr. of Ottawa, Steven Doesburg of Mariatown and her niece Melanie McCourt (Andrew) of Morrisburg and her great-nieces and great-nephews Logan, Gabe, Micah, Lily-Anna and Gracelyn.

She was predeceased by her parents Symon and Clasina Doesburg (nee Vanderkruk).  

Family and friends paid their respects at the Community Christian Reformed Church, Dixon’s Corners, on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held at the Church on Friday, November 14th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Clarence Witten officiating.  

Interment followed at New Union Cemetery, Williamsburg.   Pallbearers were John Doesburg Jr., Steven Doesburg, Melanie McCourt, Andrew McCourt, Lucas VanBeilen and Glenn Lapier.

A resident of the Dundas Manor Nursing Home in Winchester for the past three years, Geraldine Casselman (nee Smith) passed away there on Saturday, January 5, 2013.  She was 83. 

Geraldine was born in Vermont on August 6, 1929, to her parents Keith and Lucille Smith (nee           Vincelette).  She was educated in local schools and she was an excellent student.  After graduation she pursued a career as a secretary in Ottawa.  

She married Percy Casselman of Winchester Springs, and she enjoyed the pleasures of country living.  They were blessed with two sons Steven and Gary.  Unfortunately, Gary died in infancy.  

Geraldine was an accomplished pianist and her family thoroughly enjoyed her playing the piano so beautifully.  She also enjoyed craft work and was very talented at this as well.  Her stuffed toy animals made many little children happy.  

An extremely independent person, Geraldine spent a good deal of her time driving about on her motorized scooter and in her automobile. She also enjoyed visiting the local flea markets.  

Geraldine and Percy shared a love of music, dancing and travelling locally.  They attended community functions, church socials and church suppers.  Unfortunately, later in life Geraldine encountered poor health and these activities were curtailed.  

Geraldine is survived by her son Steven of Oshawa and her brother David (Rosemary) Smith of Prescott.  She was predeceased by her husband Percy, her infant son Gary, her parents Keith and Lucille Smith (nee Vincelette) and her brother Earl Smith.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews.   

Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Williamsburg, on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., which was conducted by Rev. Christine Lowson.  

Interment followed at Maple Ridge Cemetery, Chesterville.  Pallbearers were Steven Casselman, Douglas Casselman, David Smith, Matt Smith, Glen Hart and Drew Lefebvre.
