Flashback Friday: Looking down Main St.

This photo, from The Leader archives, is undated but is likely from the late 1930’s or early 1940’s based on the vehicles parked on the road. The photo was taken from the top of the Morrisburg Music Hall building, looking east. It provides a great overview of what the old downtown area of Morrisburg looked like before the flooding involved with the St. Lawrence-Seaway project in the 1950’s. In the bottom left corner, is a building marked “Clinic” followed by Cassell’s Good Eats. Further down the street is the Cameo Theatre, and the Imperial gas station. Across the street on the extreme right of the photo is a sign for the St. Lawrence Hall Hotel.
