CHESTERVILLE – A quick three-goal blast off by the late starting North Dundas Rockets was too much for the South Grenville Rangers October 27th. The visiting Rangers played catch up throughout the game, with the Rockets cutting their comeback short.
The Rockets came out strong in the first period with Justin Lefebvre scoring in the opening minute of the game to make it 1-0. Two minutes later, Cameron Brown made it 2-0. Late in the first period, Lefebvre made it 3-0 for the Rockets.
The Rangers found their way on to the scoreboard off the opening face off in the second period. Brody Ranger won the face off and sent the puck to Cole Edgely, setting up Jordan Dodge for his first of the game. Sebastien Roy put the Rockets back ahead with his goal five minutes into the period. Rangers trailed the Rockets 4-1.
Eight minutes later, Ranger set up Edgely for his own goal, cutting the Rockets lead to two goals. Rockets captain Brad Stitt put the Rockets lead up to three goals, sending the pass from Lefebvre past Rangers goalie Lee Spurgeon. Dodge cut the lead back to two goals 30 seconds later. Lefebvre completed his hat trip with 13 seconds left on the clock to put the Rockets ahead 6-3.
The Rockets matched the Rangers shot for shot in the third period. Dodge completed his hat trick for the night three minutes into the period, cutting the Rockets down to a two-goal lead again. Jacob Bouche brought the Rangers to within one goal of the Rockets, who held on for the 6-5 win.
