MORRISBURG – At 9:33 a.m. Monday, former South Dundas mayor Steven Byvelds filed his nomination papers to seek election for mayor.
Byvelds is the third candidate to file for mayor the upcoming South Dundas municipal election. Also running are incumbent mayor Evonne Delegarde, who defeated Byvelds in 2014, and sitting councillor Marc St. Pierre.
Byvelds was first elected to South Dundas council in 2006 as councillor, and served as deputy-mayor in that term from 2009-10. He was elected mayor in 2010 and also served as warden of the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry in 2011.
Nominations close July 27th, and voters will go to the polls October 22nd.
