Dorothy Van Allen

A lifetime resident of the area, Dorothy Van Allen (nee McKee) of Morrisburg, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 22, 2016. She was 87.

Dorothy was born in Cardinal on May 30, 1929 to her parents Neil and Della McKee (nee Harper).

Dorothy enjoyed knitting and crocheting and she made many pieces of clothing for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

She possessed a green thumb  and loved to work with flowers.  

Dorothy was an animal lover and she gave several stray animals a good home over the years.  

In addition to being a homemaker Dorothy worked as a registered nurse assistant for the Prescott clinic, the Brockville General Hospital and the Hotel Dieu hospital in Cornwall.  She also worked at Dundas Manor and for the Red Cross as a personal support worker.  

Dorothy is survived by her children Susan Hubert of Morrisburg and Ron McKee of Cornwall, her step-son Bruce Van Allen of Morrisburg and her brothers Pliney and Oliver McKee. 

Dorothy will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Richard Hubert, Timothy Hubert, Tony Hubert, Stacey McKee, great-grandchildren Tyler, Kyle, Mikayda, Kianna, Logan, Brennan, Preston, Samantha, Kristin and one great, great-grandchild Aurora.  

She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Van Allen and her brothers Leo, Ray and George McKee.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews.     

Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home, Williamsburg, on Wednesday, October 26th from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., which was conducted by Rev. Janet Evans.

Interment followed at St. George’s Cemetery in Ottawa.  Pallbearers were Richard Hubert, Tony  Hubert, Timothy Hubert, Stacey McKee, Kyle Hubert and Tyler Hubert.
